The Financial Times (and they're far from the only one) are complaining NOT because of the subscription fee split but because they loose "the direct relationship with subscribers". To put that into simple English they currently sell their customers information to marketing firms or use the demographic data to sell ads in the FT or related materials.
They can only sell it if you opt in (or don't opt out, depending on whether that checkbox is checked by default or not). And what harm is happening to you if they use their anonymous demographic data to sell adds? Don't you think Apple is using their demographic data when they sell iAds?

This is great news if it means the end of mobile me. Die Mobile Me - DIE DIE DIE. Anything will be better than the self centered sounding @me.com. I simply will not use the email address in a professional context. Don't mind @Mac.com, and still use it, but @me.com sends the wrong message.
The problem with .Me is all in your mind. No one really cares what the extension is, it just a means to an end. Short suffixes are must easier, whatever they are.

My warranty is about to run out and I am considering applecare for the second year.
If the phone gets replaced under applecare is it used up or do you still get the rest of the time? I think it's the full two years no matter what handset right?
For about $70 it rather seems worth it with the potential bugs these phones can have.

This is also the case in the UK. A patently ridiculous stance, given that there is a constant message given on TV and radio that there is a shortage.
I've never been able to donate blood bc of this restriction. I do understand why this provision has not been changed. Though blood is screened, people still receive blood that makes them sick. It amazes me the screening process has not advanced enough to provide more blood.

Hi, I am using pic-in-pic full screen dissolves in an iMovie project. The problem is that when I attempt to detach and scrap audio in the 'superimposed' clip (ie. the 'top' one), it appears to do so, but then the audio comes through when I play the project back. There must be a very simple reason for this. Surely...

The "true" video iPod is actually MUCH more than a mere iPod. Thus it will take a presentation to discuss what it does, new supporting software, and just as likely, a new supporting service option.
It's great that Steve Jobs has personal presentations to release new products. But, if you believe it will take a presentation to discuss what the Video iPod does, Apple is not doing so hot on it's product design. How many other companies release products which are so much more complex, yet come with a simple written press release instead of a live presentation? It's a video iPod - I'd guess it plays video and has a interface to do so. Besides, only hard-core Apple fans view the quicktime videos of the presentation. Therefore, most iPod purchasers only get an impression piece from the press that may deal as much with Jobs presentation style as the product itself.

In general: you sometimes don't get that option in a very straight forward way - and they still might sell your address (maybe not FT, but others)

I've been thinking about that: remember when there were rumors of OS X delays because the Mac team was pulled onto the iOS team in order to get 3.0 out? I'm wondering if the opposite is happening now - the iOS team has been pulled onto the Lion team in order to get Lion ready for a summer launch. This could be the reason we're not hearing much about iOS 5.

One reason for such huge numbers is that while immigration helps fill cities and schools and factories in the short term, the dynamic adjusts over time. Immigrants who come from cultures where large families are standard quickly adapt to the customs of their new homes. And eventually immigrants age, too, so that the benefit that incoming workers give to the pension system today becomes a drag on the system in the future. A European Commission working document published in November 2007 concludes that “truly massive and increasing flows of young migrants would be required” to offset current demographic changes. Few Europeans want that. Immigration already touches all sorts of raw nerves, forcing debates about cultural identity, citizenship tests, national canons, terrorism and tolerance, religious versus secular values.
Meanwhile, in the midst of arguments about natalist and immigration policies come other voices and more elemental questions. Is it even possible to increase the population significantly? Why not? The USA for example has only 4 million miles of roads. A car with driver + passenger + some decent equipment should be able to map say 10 miles per hour, at a cost of $50 per hour. 200 cars for a year, that's 20 million dollars. And then you have a database that you can sell, and that you can use everywhere. Then write an iPhone app that lets users make corrections, lets businesses add their locations etc. and you are ready.
Is this well-veiled sarcasm? If not, you guys are ridiculous.

2) Even if they did, there are multiple geographic/mapping data providers
3) None of them obtained their data by having employees drive around in vehicles... That's an absurd suggestion

For those having a hissy fit and saying this is going to make them go to Verizon, how does that help you? Verizon doesn't give you any early upgrade price so with them you just end up paying full price (Which is more expensive than the subsidy AT&T is giving for one year upgrades).
I fail to see the logic here on why Verizon is better than AT&T in this regard? Because AT&T got more expensive (but still has a better option than Verizon)? So you'll go and pay more at Verizon that doesn't even offer an early upgrade because AT&T got a little more expensive? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
I'll be the sensible consumer and go with who gives me the better deal, regardless if one of them increased their prices. IF they still have the better deal, I might be upset it's not as good as a deal as before, but I'm still going to pick it. I'll save my spiteful boycotting for when they actually try to scam me or do something it is worth paying more for (no one see the irony in paying more somewhere else cause the place you're ticked off at increased prices but still is cheaper?).
