Well I managed to pickup Leopard & a tshirt from Regent st. It was pretty mad in there. I took some shots with my Nikon + sigma 30mm f1.4 but I've yet to process them.
It was fun waiting around if only to see the hordes of people and interest in what is... a software update. :rolleyes:

Im a Systems Engineer who *get ready for it* has an iPad. :eek:
But yes, of course iPad owner's use it for normal fun stuff...nobody codes on their iPad (cause ya cant), and I only know one person who uses it as a primary business machine...hes got one of the bluetoothe keyboard cases. LMFAO, we just tell him, "ya know, thats what we call a laptop"

From memory Snow Leopard Samba runs a modified version of 3.0 Samba, however versions 3.3 and 3.4 of Samba Windows 7 *can* authenticate against(+). If the version of Samba in Lion is 3.3 or higher then it might be possible to get Windows 7 computers to authenticate against OSX Lion server...
(+) Although a registry patch is required on the Win7 machines to enable certain legacy support.
I beleive the command is "smbd -V" in terminal on the server if someone feels like trying it...
I was under the impression that an Open Directory domain can host both OSX, Windows XP/Vista/7, and Linux boxes if enabled.

how about an ad that just urges users to ask their friends
something like this:
Buying a computer is a big investment, so before you make your next big investment ask yourself "do you want to be happy?"
if the answer is yes, then we recommend you ask your friends:
"do you use a mac or pc?"
"are you happy or frustrated with computers?"
i can't think about anything better than letting customers interview their own friends... it gets some buzz going and gets people talking publicly more

Well, all I can is from my expierence, and I just ordered a MBP, and this is my first time buying a new mac.
I know a lot of *nix geeks like me are either taking a serious look at macs or have bought one. The intel change and bootcamp/virtualization possibility sealed the deal.

I'm not a huge fan of Time Warner, but hey, there's not much they can do here. It's actually a great idea, allowing channels to be watched from any screen so long as you have a subscription...
The fact that some networks are against this is mind boggling.... why on earth would you want to decrease potential viewership when your revenue is based on increasing viewership?

I prefer running it on the Mac - main reason: I don't run Parallels all the time - only when I have to develop windows stuff, otherwise it's always turned off (less used memory)

Genetic tests for identification usually take up to 5-10 days, but usually more than 2. Technology. heh.
We can sequence an entire genome in about two weeks now a-days. (just a few years ago that took about 10 years).
If your in a hurry you can pull off a simple parental genetics test (quite old technology) which is what this would be in a matter of hours. This stuff is child's play in the modern era.

I moved the Forum Posts category into the Mac Guides category. I don't think it deserves to be listed on the main page since it's more a secondary categorisation of articles and not generally a logical place to look for something.

Some brief comments on the Guides category since I'm not sure everyone fully understands its purpose; it contains 'how to'-type articles as opposed to encyclopaedia-type articles, so it's not just a catch-all. I was more thinking along the lines of why Apple is suddenly putting SD card readers into several models. They are usually driving new technologies (or ignoring them), not catching up. SD cards have been around for a while now. Why is Apple choosing now to start adding SD card readers. And, in the case of the Mini - on the back.

Although, they're still not resting on their "no BluRay" laurels in order to "encourage" people to use iTune$ to buy, stream and watch HD content (minus the extras only found on BluRay).

If so, then maybe it is a MacBook with discrete graphics, but still 13.3". I.e., something between the MacBook and the MacBook Pro. It might be replacing the current Black MacBook which isn't a great deal for what you get.
Otherwise it's a redesign to address all the current MacBook issues, and will be used across the range.

Does nobody realise that you have to support the exFAT format (from Microsoft, currently NOT supported on OS X, and has to be licensed by Microsoft) to be able to use more than 32 GB? (or the up to 2 TB). Otherwise if you format it with the old formats you are stuck on the same limits as you would with ad SDHC card.
The way I see it, it's just the controller which supports SDXC, but the OS doesn't as of now. So nothing to really be happy about for the moment except that you have technology on board you can't take advantage on.
The standard file system of SDXC cards is exFat (http://www.sdcard.org/developers/tech/sdxc/capabilities/) -- so does this mean the Mini now supports exFat?

I downloaded and installed it last night. Ran great. The default settings set everything to "Medium" for my computer. Ran completely smooth. No lag or issues. That game is awesome.
