Has apple ever officially responded to any false marketing claims they may have accidentally stated? For example - them stating their macbook pro battery life lasts X amount of time, however it really lasts X -3 hours.. and they've responded in an official capacity?
Battery life isn't really anything you can debate, as it largely depends on use, brightness and so many other variables. That's why Apple says "up to x hours".
What other false marketing are you referring to? There has been some in the past, but I can't recall anything recent.

In Massachusetts we already pay an excise tax on vehicles, boat and other toys.
Introducing a tax on road usage, not to remind you that we already pay taxes for this, would impact the ones that depend on such an infrastructure to support the economy.
The majority of the revenues that would feed the government waste would ultimately be passed on to everyone. Whether it be food, consumer goods, clothing and so on, it all requires some sort of usage of the infrastructure we are already paying for.
How about no new taxes and better manage the money we already feed into the garbage disposal.

I have a Mac Pro with that build. I've had no serious problems. The only odd thing is that sometimes when I when I go into date/time preferences dialog and try to change something in there the color wheel spins for a couple of minutes and then the controls in there don't work right. All the other system preferences appear to work normally. I've had no other problems. Even iTunes 7 works fine.
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to an update. OS upgrades are always cool.
Ditto here. I have that build and the only problem I have experienced was yesterday, where I couldn't open Photoshop. It just bounced one time in the Dock and nothing else. I had to restart the machine. But, in the 2-3 weeks I have had my Mac Pro that's the only problem I found.
Anyway, 10.4.8 looks really interesting :)

What I find to damn stupid is that all competitors except Apple use Android or Honeycomb. WTF!
They are comparing ipad to other tablets essentially running the same effing OS.
Maybe because that's the only competitor there is right now? No WebOS tablet released. No BlackBerryOS tablet released. I guess technically they could've put some Windows 7 devices on there, but that would've been embarrassing ;)

I have been using the new four finger gestures enabled with 4.3.x and find them to be a great in combination with the current multitasking implementation. I think what is depicted is either a jail broken add-on, or an early tested and rejected interface.

I'm picking up a g4 mini in the next couple of days that has been completely wiped clean.
I don't have any sort of monitor at home and was looking at hooking it up to my Panasonic plasma to set it up from scratch using a DVI - HDMI cable.
Will I actually be able to see anythiing without having an OS already installed or is it going to be a pointless exercise?
Should be fine, the plasma should behave just like any normal monitor. Although I use the VGA input of my Panny plasma to avoid HDMI handshake issues so that is always an option.

Upgrading to ME is sort of a 50:50 deal, whether you upgrade successfully, or upgrade in heck. And constant Windoze upgrades come in the fashion of "kill a bug/get one free". But as long as you don't have upgrader cards or such with your Mac, OS 10.2 really doesn't need so many updates, except for add-ons and stuff.

If Apple did jump into mobile phone smartphone world, do you think they'd maybe license Symbian, since of the established phone OSes it's the most flexible and customizable? They could pull a unix/OS X on the symbian OS, and since most of the US wouldn't know a symbian phone if it walked up to them, sucker punched them, screamed "SYMBIAN IS A RILLY GOOD OS" right into their ear and then left a calling card.

Hello everyone. I am making a highlight tape for my buddy. He gave me dvds from every game he played in last year. For me to get the dvd onto my computer I either use dvd remaster or handbrake to get it to a quicktime file..
My question is is there anyway that I can just rip like 30 second segments instead of the entire dvd to space some space. Ideally into a .mov. I would like to just put the timecode in and it rips that certain time.. Example : 1:05:07-1:06:23
