    Just my thoughts.

I think some of you are confused as to what Carrier preferences means. Its not saying anything about which iPad is selling better. All it says is which iPad people would like to have. It doesnt even mean which they do have. (AT&T iPad owner might want the Verizon one because of the bad service). So a AT&T iPad user may show under the Verizon numbers. Also its no shock the AT&T iPad is harder to acquire. Its most likely due to customers being use to the company. (example: mom buying her son an ipad will go to AT&T if they have AT&T phones.)

Remember a good deal of iPhone customers are still AT&T customers. So when they bought their iPad why not just by the AT&T one. So since the mass I users are already with AT&T it only makes sense that that iPad would sell better. Also understand that not all AT&T customers hate AT&T.

ummm so can some one explain to me just what in the **** adobe is trying to accomplish?

    Let's review.
    1) Apple announces intel switch, Adobe is there with smiles raving "It's about time!"
    2) Apple releases intel based MBP and iMac, shortly after Adobe releases Universal FAQs sheet saying that professionals will have to wait till CS3 for a universal binary.
    3) Adobe starts cutting out PPC support, but has yet to offer any Intel Support.

Am I the only one a little confused by their actions? So what? neither chip is good enough?

How much does a job like this pay? Looks like Microsoft has a Data Center Manager position open. Maybe I'll apply. How hard can it be?

Just the fact that you asked the question means you're not qualified. Does that clear it up for you?

Tom B. – a couple of things in your article that caught my eye...

...when you look at [Christmas Number ones] over recent years, it was Bob the Builder one year, Mr Blobby…there's a tradition of quite horrible songs...Hmm. Wasn't Cowell himself behind Mr Blobby's single? :p

Indeed, in his early career he was behind a lot of one-hit novelty songs so I think its a tad hypocritical that he's now turning his nose up at such songs for being 'horrible'.

I think we were getting to a point where [the Christmas chart] was all becoming like The Millennium Prayer, and I just didn't like that song. Now, I didn't like that song myself either – and I'm certainly not a Cliff Richard fan. However, I was delighted when that song got to number one, simply because DJs and people like Cowell were so opposed to it doing so.

See, he song didn't have anything like the airplay or marketing behind it that the manufactured crap that fills the charts does – and in fact the reaction it got from sneering DJs was poor at best – but it got to number one simply because Cliff had enough fans and enough people liked the song that it was able to sell more copies than the sort of stuff Cowell and his cronies would prefer us to buy instead.

So fair play to Cliff for that, and I'd rather have proper musicians like him or Rage Against The Machine topping the charts this Christmas than some spotty oik doing a cover of, of all things, a Hannah Montana song.

    edit:
    to be on topic:

If you're set on a mac-usin'-momma, is there a Mac User group you could meet some Mac-using ladies at? We're a fun bunch (if I may say so myself.)

Other than that, I dunno.. go to starbucks or something to meet people? A singles mixer? *shrug*

I wasn't just looking for advice on dating in general (although I'll take it, don't get me wrong :) ), I was looking for advice on this particular girl. I have dated all pc users in the past, but at the time I was a pc user as well, so I cannot comment as to the heart and intellect of Mac using women vs. their pc counterparts. I often study, as often as I study :p, at Borders (similar to Barnes and Noble if you don't have them) and that usually does well for finding one or two Mac using 'momma's', however usually they are cramming for something, not exactly my setting for walking up and asking them to chat.
I realize there are a plethora of women around, especially where I am from they are quite kind to the eyes and their father's wallets seem rather bulged, however....well nevermind, I really have no valid excuses. I am just single until I amass enough funds to purchase many hot women, since that always seems to work

Record industry trade magazine Music Week said the release of the CD single was likely to give the X Factor winner "a massive boost".

I work in a music store, people were buying several copies of Joe McEldry's (sp?) single at a time today and we've had people asking for it since Monday morning. And Amazon's selling the track for 29p.

Guy at work asked if I was joing in the Rage thing. I think you've got more chance of steering a train personally.

When it comes to music people often just buy utter crap. Seriously, they just buy what Heat magazine tells them to.

Granted www.cpuscorecard.com doesn't really clarify what benchmarks they use, but in their estimation, a dual 1.25GHz Mac beats a 2.4 Ghz P4 by a hair, and is just a little behind a 2.8 GHz P4. Likewise, a 800MHz G4 is very comparable to a 1.8 Ghz P4. The important thing that I see in this ranking is that in perusing the rest of this website, the people who came up with these ratings do not look to be particularly Mac friendly.

Based on this, I would have to disagree with your assertion that "the g4 cannot beat the p4 in performance", unless your only criteria for performance is sheer GHz speed. It seems to me that at the high end, the two chips are at least competitive, and in the middle of the pack, I would say that Macs are a better buy.

The sample I see here shows a way to make a phone's games or videos interact with toys.

You already have a standard for this, connecting any media device in a network. Your phone, your camera, media device to your tv, game console, internet and the cloud etc. Microsoft and almost every leading manufacturer is already shipping and using devices or soon to release with this standard. Apple is just trying to not follow standard and over complicate for us users. Bottom line: This is not a good idea. It is inventing something that is already out as a standard in the industry.

I'd actually pay a little extra to get Lion on a read-only USB drive. I've had to reinstall SL a few times (new computers, testing, new hard drive, etc) and reinstalling (heck, even booting) from optical media is painfully slow.

So, how long does GameStop take to send the beta code? I just preordered... wish I could start the download while I'm waiting for the code...

Takes a day or so apparently. Maybe up to a week? Should be in your e-mail.

I've been playing the beta for over a month now under Windows 7 with bootcamp with no problems on low settings graphics/models wise and high settings for terrain and physics and effects. Shaders are the biggest resource in this game.

Anyways, it played/plays awesome on bootcamp - very smooth, no stuttering even in large battles. I can't say the same for the Mac version... yet. I hope they can optimize it more and that Apple/Nvidia put out new drivers to help out the problems but it just was not a pleasant experience for me. And when I minimize the game into windowed mode to go to my internet browser, my whole system lags and INSANE amount. Like to the point of being unusable.

Fairly disappointed. :( Hope it gets optimized!

Except of course, the Unix backend that powers OS X also powers ATM machines, practically every cellphone, a lot of cars, and many other servers/embedded devices as well.

You're right that Windows has the major retail cash register & ATM market down. However, a lot of stores don't use Windows (pretty much any small business that uses those casio cash registers doesn't, and many chains like 99 cent stores just use those tiny keyboard-is-the-computer registers that I am 100% certain DO NOT run Windows).

On that note, I can tell you that Dish Network uses Linux on all of their receivers, but then Comcast and VZ use Windows on their receivers *ponders*

It's a great Word alternative for those who don't need Excel and don't want to shell out several hundred bucks (MS Office) just to get something better than TextEdit.
At $80 for iWork and $150 for the student/teacher edition of Office, it's a bit harder to justify. Of course, if you get an academic discount, $50 for iWork is low enough that you might just pick up both. I'm waiting for Pages to become a more capable page layout app. I'm still a little worried that Apple won't stick with it.

I'm pretty sure it is just the one.

Its one disk that lets you install the OS on more that one computer (up to 5 I think) where as the normal one only lets you install once.

That's completely different. Intelligence is not fully genetic. You can become intelligent by obtaining an education.

Not so much. Intelligence is like a measuring cup. You can fill it up all you want, but you're not going to be able to pour a gallon of knowledge into a shot glass of a brain and have nothing spill.

Back on topic - we already have legal racism, but we call it Affirmative Action. Hiring one of two qualified candidates simply because he's black, brown, or yellow and there's a quota to fill is just as bad as hiring the white guy just because he's white.

All of the Verizon stores around me (Lawrenceville/Buford GA) were sold out of the 16GB Ipad's. I decided to call up to the store in Athens, which is only about 35 minutes from my house, and sure enough, they are holding one for me until I get off work. It sounded like they have plenty up there, due to the fact that when I asked if they had any 16GB's the gentleman said, yeah...how many do you need? I was kind of shocked due to Athens being the college town and figured this would be the first place to sell out of them. Anyway, keep looking people...they are still out there.

    Best,

    Josh

I would have a difficult time spending money at Home Depot, the thought of founder Bernie Marcus just creeps me out.

Maybe I should educate myself. What is the scoop? Where I used to live in Minnesota I shopped at Menards. In Houston mostly it's Lowes or HD.
