I've been reading a number of comments from a variety of sources since the iPhone runs OSX it is a pocket-size Mac. Applications, Widgets etc will all be written for this device which will all be OSX compatible.

Laptops and desktops, iLife etc. will all be announced in good time. However the iPhone is a revolutionary device. So much so that RIMM and Palm both fell today on the stock market. The iPhone, like the original iPod, have established a new standard.

I see TJ Maxx's acquisition of some iPads as a marketing scheme. If a few select stores have at least 5 to offer at a discounted price, imagine what kind of results they would get if they offered them as a Black Friday Doorbuster Special. They would probably get hundreds lined up at the door like Best Buy does for a deeply discounted HDTV or laptop. As for a warranty, I don't think they offer warranties on any of their products because they are a clearing house.

Exactly. They could have bought a couple hundred legitimately at normal prices from a distributor and then distribute a small number to each or only select stores to be used as loss leaders. Kind of like when we raffle off an iPod or iPad at our booth at a trade show. We are actually giving this away, we don't sell tickets, we do this in order to get lots of people in the booth.

It's wrong, and anyone who supports its use is sick, twisted and advocating for inhuman and unethical treatment of prisoners. There are no redeeming characteristics about torture that could possibly justify its use. Not to mention those who advocate torture are telling our enemies that it is ok to torture our prisoners. How could they? That risk is unacceptable.

Every "excuse" used to justify the torture authorized by our prior administration has been debunked, including that it led to finding OBL. That one tidbit of information (the nickname) came from someone who was waterboarded, but the information came much later during interrogation performed in accordance with civilized rules.

    Sick. Twisted.

I tried the Toy Camera effect for this photo, unfortunately it showed up some water marks on my 50mm lens at the time of taking the photo. I retouched them, but it means I think some photos from August/September have these blemishes...

I have a Mac Mini from late 2006 with an intel Core duo cpu (Model#: MA608LL/A). The problem I'm having is that i have it set to turn the display off after idling 5min and go to sleep after idling for 10min. It turns the display off but the mac never goes to sleep. I can use the apple remote or the menu option to put it to sleep. It just never goes to sleep due to idling. Any possible solutions would be great.

Hmmm. I think I figured this one out. It's Apple. Apple makes Macs. All new Macs have Airport. Macs are plugged into the Internet. iPhones are made by Apple. Apple controls the default settings on Mac OS X.

"If you're near a Mac your calls are free."

    How 'bout them Apples?

Sweet. But, there's more to just piggybacking on your mac's airport connection to make calls. I think more has to be done to make this networking possible.

Not to mention any names, but I don't see any of you becoming the most hated (or, perhaps, least liked) members. I think those spots are already pretty secure.

I kept working to be the meanest member but no one ever voted for me for that. :( ;)

I haven't seen any ruffled feathers yet, except maybe on the free merchandise spammers.

I may be in the minority, but the rule around here is that you obey whoever pays the bills. That means that if you're still living under your parents' roof (or you're depending on them to pay the tuition, room, and board), then you live by their rules.
    .

Same rule here, under a different saying - my way or the highway.

Okay, i just want to clarify somethings.

If an officer tells a teenage girl "try to avoid dressing provocatively", and you'll lower your chances of sexual assault, i find that to be fine.
Keep in mind we're not talking about Africa or Middle East, we're talking about US and there are women who get sexually assaulted regardless of what they're wearing.

But i'm sorry, if women think they can walk around half naked, and not expect men to flirt and view her as a sexual object then they have mental issues. The media forces women to look like sexual objects, it's sadly become the "norm", things one would see in a strip club are everywhere in Halloween. Innocence is completely destroyed.

I respect women who respect themselves.

If a man sees a woman with a low top, lots of cleavage showing, high skirts and heels, then he will view her as trash. Why? because she has no self respect. She's just showing she is available. There is a difference between sexy and slutty, a fine line which has long been crossed.
Now i'm not telling you to cover yourself up completely, but some modesty and some equal balance is necessary. Women shouldn't expect that they can have their cake and eat it too. Life doesn't work like that.
Men might ogle at women who dress provocatively, but no decent man will ever want one as a wife. If you dress like a local sl*t then don't expect to be treated like a princess.

I don't want to walk down the street and see women showing off their bodies provocatively. How would society be if men were to always walk around with no shirts and with their d*cks hanging out? This is becoming like the life of a primitive human.

It seems like now a days, society has no rules, that's why people are so confused from what is right and what is wrong.
The Sharia Law is just extremism.

No Sydde, it is common sense.
It's like an officer telling you to lock your doors to reduce the chances of robbery. Will you still be robbed? Yes of course there's a possibility. Does it reduce the chances of being robbed? Yes it does.
Is it wrong to rob? Yes it is, but if you leave the doors wide open then you're just being stupid.
Now one might argue "what is provocative then?" these rules need to be created in society, and since now a days we have no censorship in the media we consume apart from extreme sexuality, there doesn't seem to be any rules. I blame the parents for not setting up dress codes.

I believe it goes both ways, men should stop sexually assaulting women, and women should dress with more respect, it's a cycle so someone needs to stop, to lower the chances of sexual assault. Due to nature, unfortunately it's women (the prey) who first need to stop dressing provocatively and more with class, and then men (the predator) will stop the sexual assaults.

    Forget the sales numbers.

I find it so damn funny that thousands were crying over not having Verizon. Now there's hardly anything positive from those whiners.

I know a lot of people have been looking for a tweak that can delete all mail in one tap rather individually.

Looks like the tweak "DeleteMail" from the bigboss repo will do that :)

I suggest you to save your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella from now on. Even if you don't jailbreak. But with your SHSH blobs you have the possibility to downgrade. I restored to 4.2.1 myself because of various issues with 4.3+

And it's a pity that few people know about this and a huge fail from apple for not letting iPhone users downgrade their firmware.

If in doubt check this simple tutorial:
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=9189

    Hope it helps...

I never considered doing this, at least not before now.

    Thanks for the link.

Stop with the FUD already. Businesses operating in the EU cannot do this. Just because corporations in the USA can, doesn't mean the rest of the world is the same...

And I'm sure that the FT has no subscribers in the US, hence they don't care about subscriber information and the ability to sell it out ...

Oh, wait, they just turned down the ability to drastically increase readership and better serve their existing readers while saving in printing and distribution costs and reducing their billing processing needs, so that they could preserve the income from selling that subscriber information.

I don't think it's FUD. It's simple logic. If they are going to the mat to protect a revenue stream, it is unreasonable to assume that that revenue stream is insignificant.
