I heard the iphone 5 is delayed because the HTC Sensation has sent Apple back to the drawing board.
I think HTC needs to find a drawing board and a good one cause all their recent phones have looked almost the same.
Apple must be worried, I know. :rolleyes:

That is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. Obviously, this won't be the next iPhone, because Apple would never come out with something that ugly.

I can tell you from first hand experience many of the knock off conversion kits have a slightly thicker battery door which causes issues with certain cases - mostly hard ones, like snap on back covers or sliders.
They simply don't fit. They're just a hair off due to the thicker door.
I've also seen some white doors which are fine and fit with all cases.
Not saying these pics aren't of the Apple iPhone 4 or not......

Not exactly. This is a correct report that Microsoft has tried to cloud and cover up. Essentially, Vista will be licensed on a two-machine basis, with some basic restrictions (like all software has). Nothing new there.
What's new, and what is actually a correct report, is that MS has addressed the use of their OS in a virtual environment which was never completely addressed before in their EULA and terms of use. Because virtual environments are technically different than system installs, it was a grey area. Now they are explicitly banning such use for users of any version other than the premium level. Whether or not it will be "technically" illegal, but still possible, or if it will be impossible without piracy, remains to be seen.
It's not particularly earth shattering or shocking one way or the other. All companies have their dirty little ways to make an extra buck or keep you paying them long after you should. Apple does it too.
From a business perspective, it's really not a terrible strategy by MS if they want to keep customers. The Intel Mac switch has opened the door for PC diehards to take the plunge to a Mac without the risk of being away from their cherished Windows environment. Making Vista difficult, or at least expensive, to install on these new Macs is actually not a bad strategy for MS to keep some customers iffy about making the switch. Looks like a bar of soap. Which I guess is OK. It IS different, 'fresh', and will make a fashion statement for those who care about such things.
I guess that not many people on here remember the white iPods and white iBooks back in the day. Man, I miss that white finish. I might just buy the white iPhone at full price.

I don't see how this is going to work... How are they going to keep the same battery life in this form factor? At this price point, or are they going to increase the prices? I'm not going to go back to my 3GS battery life.

I would have got the wireless keyboard/mouse set for my iMac if this was available at the time. Oh well. I'm considering switching to the Logitech Laser anyways. I get sick of the MM not recognizing right clicks.

Amazon's store doesn't bog you down with movies and games and whatnot. You go to the MP3 section and 99% of what is advertised is music, both the music you searched and others you might like.
iTunes has gotten more irritating in that regard in recent years. You click on store half the time just wanting to do a search for a song or something you're looking for and you get this MEGA LAG due to the fact iTunes wants to load up a catalog page containing about a thousand items on it with fade-through album covers, animation, etc. to try and catch your eye to sell you stuff you don't want to buy. The problem is even with a 10mbps connection, it still loads slow (at least on my older Macs and you get that lag trying to click on the darn search box which won't respond because it's far too busy loading advertisements). That sucks IMO.
You can get iTunes to move songs over to USB drives, etc. (select songs or lists and just drag it to the drive in the finder), but there's always been this bug if you move too many songs, it won't work (not sure where the exact number is, but I've run into it many times on an 8GB USB thumb drive for my car). Plus on Macs, OSX insists on copying the .files over with the songs which most car players choke on (so I use my Windows machine to do all this instead of my OSX server). Apple couldn't care less about either because in their eyes, you should be using an iPod...even for the car. Anything else is heresy and you deserve what you get. I'm guessing others have already echoed my thoughts already, but competition is good a good thing.
The iPod is great (I use one every day at the gym), but nothing lasts forever.
I'm worried that Microsoft is in it for the long haul and will hold on until the iPod is crushed.
Then we'll be all left with sub-standard MP3 players that only work with Windows. :(

Furthermore, I have issues with the comments about marketshare increase alone as a primary contributor to getting Macs back into schools. The reason I have a problem with that is that school boards and school superintendants are typically in the back pocket of the IT staffs of the district, and so many of those staffs out there are all MS-heads. Until you can replace those folks (not convert, not convince, but replace) you're hardly likely to see much penetration into the educational market.
I'm the techie guy at an elementary school and 99.9% of all the computers in the district (not just my school, the entire district) are Macs. The last director of technology was really pro-Mac, along w/ a lot of the other schools' techies, which was a good thing. However, the kindergarten teacher @ my school has some peecees which she got on a grant to run some Windows only software (but didn't get them set-up since, according to the last director of technology, didn't fit into the district's technology plans). Also, each techie is getting a MacBook w/ dual boot because we're going to a new program that rates how well the kids to in reading & math where you can see the progress online, but the only way you can upload the results is on Windows. Boo!!! :mad: That's one reason why Macs still have low marketshare: no programs. It's a chicken & the egg problem. Mac marketshare won't go significantly up until more software is ported, but not very much software will be ported until mac marketshare is up.
One problem with increased market share is that there will be more attacks on them. One of the Mac's sources of security is security through obscurity. So, why go after an OS that only has 5% marketshare while another OS has 90%? I don't know whether Windows or Macs are more secure in terms of actual bugs and security holes, but we probably would if Windows & Macs get equal marketshare.
There are two main reasons that I know of to hack into computers, write viruses, or something: (1) to gain entry to a computer to get files, damage the company's infrastructure or (2) to be a jackass. The first one is probably for personal gain and Macs may be a target, the second to make yourself feel good at other people's expense and would probably be Windows-based to inflict the most damage. Your sarcasm is inappropriate. This poster has a right to her/his opinion. There are plenty of folks that think that kids are a bad idea, especially in their case. I'm proud of the fact I don't have kids: I'd beat them just like Joan Crawford did in Mommy Dearest. :mad:

Personal responsibility means making informed decisions, and you can't make an informed decision if the information isn't available. I think that restaurants like that should make nutritional info easily available. That, and quit advertising unhealthy food in ways that imply that it is healthy.

Kids are only as responsible as their parents. Would you give your kid $1000 cash to walk around the mall with and blame the store if they sold the kid a pack of gum using your cash? Of course not. It's not the kid's fault, 100% irresponsible parents. They gave their kids a form of payment (yeah, an iphone is an electronic payment method just like a credit card), and but not for that action the charge wouldn't have taken place. I don't want to have to press BUY 5 times and enter my password 5 times because Shaniqwa can't supervise her 8 kids who she gives an iPod with a billing account tied to her name to. Have you see the "gestures" video? It would be done by physically touching the iPod. No camera needed.
Did ye all not read the report. The whole point is that it is a "Proximity sensor" . That it can detect your gestures while "spaced away" from the ipod. This would be no big deal if it required rubbing your greasy fingers all over the display!!

I have never used glossy. Looks alright, in person. Not sure how it would be for everyday use tho...

Yes it is pretty intense. I broke today and bought one off craigslist. Bought white but am really debating about opening it vs. trying to get black, which was the original color i wanted.
I havn't seen the white in person so I can't be 100% sure but it looked like the white Macbook did to me, a yellowish white, didn't seem to go very well with the back and screen, and was quite distracting in videos vs the black.
That being said I know people who absolutely love both the Macbook and the new white iPad2
